Multi Use Games Area Playground Design and Build

The term MUGA stands for Multi-use Games Area and is largely used in reference to a sports pitch which will facilitate multiple sports such as football, basketball, tennis and netball. Usually these pitches would be enclosed in a powder coated rebound weld mesh fence - often 3m high to allow fast past sport in a limited area. A choice of sports surfaces are available from polymeric rubber, 2G and 3G sports grass and sports grade tarmacadam which can be colour coated. All ages - primary and secondary & high school children will enjoy a professionally constructed MUGA.

MUGA Design Considerations

Surfacing - rubberised surfacing provides the best bounce for balls in play and leads to a faster paced game. It also slightly cushions against slips trips and falls.
Line markings - use of long lasting paints to maintain sidelines and clearly mark out each sports pitch is key. Consider using different colours for each sport to avoid confusion.
Fences - quality fencing is an integral feature of a MUGA keeping the ball in play for more time.
