Cleves School Quiet Space is yet another example of added value created as a result of collaboration with the school and the students.
The initial request was to carry out a consultation with the school, involving input from the ‘Student Voice’ - a team of very enthusiastic yr6 pupils who had put all their ideas into two suggested concepts! The students input was instrumental in creating the framework for the concept and we were able to include a number of the desired features, with tweaks along the way as thoughts evolved.
As often with high use grass areas, this one was a combination of well trodden of grass, mud and a dead tree - with little to offer in the way of relaxation or inspiration!
As is one of our specialities, we came up with a full 3D design for this learning space. On presenting the client along with a video walkthrough of our proposition, the response was something along the lines of ‘well you’ve done it now! we must have this!’
With sleeper planters incorporating sensory planting and seating, an area of wildflower garden, a mix of hard resin bound surfacing & artificial grass…and to complement it all a large shade sail canopy.
With planting, care and maintenance, this area has become an absolute statement of the school and one of the first things you see when you visit.
