Valley were approached to advise and deliver on this project by Victoria Adam Garden Design and Inspired Earth Design, who had jointly taken the initiative to do something about what was an empty, underutilised space with worn grass and a few old picnic benches.

Vicky came to us with initial plans, which we worked through to value engineering the products and design to get the very best result from a budget of around 125k. With a few tweaks to the design to simplify the build and allow for the best quality materials to be used we went to work and created this amazing space for outdoor learning, drama and wellbeing.

The larger of the two areas named ‘ The Canopy Garden’ was transformed into a bright and sensory area, with ample seating opportunities in a clean green, leafy space. Allowing for outdoor break out learning, and space for students to relax, socialise and eat at break times.

The smaller ‘Arena Area’ was transformed from a bare and ugly patch of well trodden mud, to an area themed around the use as a drama stage plus a social space, designed to offer seating on the steps and raised pod plus movement space for other activities.

The addition of fully flush access now allows for complete inclusion of all students and users.
