Every Nursery School, especially privately run would aspire to have outstanding outdoor areas which offer ultimate value for money to prospective parents who want the best start for their child - St Andrews Nursery is no exception!
The existing outdoor area was tired looking, dull and rather lacking in interest and usability. There were also issues with subsidence of the ground causing potential hazards with the surfacing.
Following an outline brief from the nursery teachers, Valley produced a detail 3D concept for the new outdoor space at St Andrews Nursery.
Our design intended to incorporate areas full of interest and engagement into a multi-use, all weather, wet pour rubber surfaced area which was flexible to adapt to various different ‘child led’ activities. The area was to be bright and cheerful and stimulating for children.
Our design was received well - the teachers loved the idea of the ‘Teletubby’ mounds to introduce different terrains within the roadway area.
Also, in the design a role play stage, mud kitchen area with a transportation line, a humpback bridge in the roadway, and a water-wall & water tunnel. No doubt you will also spot the grass green fencing!
Included was a brand new bespoke storage building divided into two compartments fully fitted with shelving to suit. Also to one end an extended roof-line allowed handy dry storage of all the trikes and scooters. As always the building was situated on a our signature fully waterproofed brick base and fitted with gutters and down-pipes.
The area previously had issues with subsidence. Valley do not ignore these issues and therefore to ensure long term quality install, we advised the school to construct a new retaining wall and fencing to the boundary as a first phase.
This allowed the second phase to be installed during a three week holiday period.
