West Wittering School were eager to develop their outdoor play space to allow for all weather use.

The area chosen for development was a small ‘wooded’ area having bark and mud underfoot with a couple of redundant musical instruments, a circular tree bench which was rotting and a tunnel which posed safety issues.

The two main objectives were for all weather use and plenty of seating opportunities.

The area had so much potential and Valley were pleased to get to work on a comprehensive plan.

The final design has incorporated the following;

Resin Bound Rubber Mulch in natural colours providing an all-weather surface. Also permeable allowing water to flow through to the trees.
Rustic story tellers chair and benches
Waterproof covered canvas wigwam with toadstool seating
Cosy Hut with benches and table
Picnic tables with game-tops.
Glacial smooth boulders for seating and interest.
Additional entrance over a timber stile
