Ludlow Junior School implemented a series of upgrades to their facilities early in 2019. Included in this was a selection of outdoor areas which had previously consisted of a temporary building and areas of redundant surfacing. Following demolition of the building the school, left with an unattractive wasteland, knew something must be done.

We collaborated with the school and their independent consultants to create a ‘Green Space’ in the form of a Friendship Garden for the children. They recognised we would be able to assist them with their designs and planning, while using our years of experience to deliver their needs in the most effective way possible. We were also able to incorporate the installation of a Multi-Use Games Area extension to increase the onsite sports facilities and capacity for lessons.

Within our consultation and design we were able to ensure the most was gained out of the space available, whilst ensuring they were able to retain what was important to them. In this instance being an ‘Memorial and Friendship’ section, in memory of a child that had sadly passed.

We were able to advise for additional drainage requirements on the existing playground and assist in the selection of the most appropriate surfacing materials for their requirements. As always working with the client to achieve a practical plan – until they were ready to proceed!

The results speak for themselves and the school were thrilled, the extent of the improvement was even more evident when we look back at what the space was before!
