Blackdown Ridge Estate is situated high on the beautiful south facing slopes of the Sussex Weald.

The Owner had the inspirational vision to create his own vineyard utilising the soil of the Sussex Weald which shares much with the terroir of the Champagne region of France.

Following a number of consultations, we were favoured to be commissioned with the installation of the New Winery building groundworks and drainage and access roadway.

Whilst the roadway was of a fairly standard construction (a good solid access for heavy goods vehicles to access the winery) the groundworks, drainage and particularly the power floated slab required a higher level of design and management in order to achieve a workable solution with a combination of level storage and washdown areas with falls and transitions between the two.

Washdown areas required suitable drainage installation to facilitate smooth forklift access and movement of wine vats.

Surface water externally was also a challenge with the quantity of rainwater and springs coming off Blackdown.
